Just Another Day in Amarillo – Longhorns Take Over Downtown
Most cities have parades. There is not much unique about a parade. Just the floats may be different. Amarillo and Canyon, and heck all of our small towns have parades. Families love them. They are a fun time that is for sure.
Heck, we sometimes are able to throw stuff like candy from the floats. The kids love that. Amarillo, though, has one parade of sorts unlike any other city nearby. It was something that we are lucky enough to enjoy every year.
Something that you don't get to experience in many other places without traveling a bit away. If you were in Downtown Amarillo over the weekend you know exactly what I am talking about. The Cattle Drive which helps to kick off the Coors Ranch Rodeo is something to see. What a sight.
There is nothing better than watching sixty longhorns make their way through Downtown Amarillo and end up at the Tri-State Fairgrounds. There are not only longhorns but also classic cars and horses leading the way.
This is definitely one of those things that the kids just love to see. I just loved watching my granddaughter experience her first cattle drive. Oh, the joy on her face and the "Oh, wow's" that came our of her mouth.
That is how all the kids feel. Pure joy over something in our city like this. You can't miss all the smiles. Check out the photos below and if you recognize one of your kids or family members Email Us.
