Last Minute Shopping In Amarillo? Here’s The Retail Store Hours.

Throughout December, we all head out in Amarillo, TX. to get some holiday gift shopping done. Now, things have changed a bit over the last decade or so with the ease of shopping online from home, but there are plenty of us who still like to get out and be able to take home what we purchase immediately.

Sometimes the deals are too good to pass up, and sometimes it's because we've missed the deadline to have something shipped to us on time for Christmas.

No matter the reason, we ALL do some kind of last-minute shopping. For some, that means a couple of days before Christmas hits, and for some (like my dad used to), wait until Christmas Eve to finish the lists.

Waiting that long comes with its challenges. Sometimes the items you want aren't in stock any longer, and sometimes you just run out of time to get everything done. It can easily be the most stressful time of the shopping season.

If it's running out of time you're worried about, I'm here to try and ease those fears. A lot of times, you'll see stores close earlier than normal on Christmas Eve so people can get home and begin to enjoy the holiday.

It seems now that more and more retail stores are staying open their regular hours...just not all of them. Below is a list of popular retail establishments and what their hours are on Christmas Eve.

STORES OPEN REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS

Best Buy: 9 am to 9 pm
Academy: 8 am to 10 pm
Kohl's: 9 am to 10 pm
GameStop: 11 am to 9 pm
Ross: 8 am to 11 pm or 12 am (depending on location)

These stores you can probably save until last on your list since they'll be open late enough for you to squeeze them in on the back end. However, the longer you wait, the faster they could run out of stuff. Furthermore, you won't be the only one in the store. Chances are, these places will be packed after 6 pm or so.

So where are the places that are closing earlier than normal? Well, it's a list of some of the most popular places to shop for gifts, so you'll want to get an early jump here.

STORES WITH AMENDED HOURS

Walmart: 12 am to 6 pm
Target: 7 am to 8 pm
Westgate Mall: 9 am to 6 pm

The upside with Walmart is they appear to be amending when they open the doors to counter for the early closing. So if you can't sleep, or just want to make sure you can knock out a store super early, starting at Walmart is a good idea.

Target will shut its doors two hours earlier than normal, but they are also opening the doors an hour earlier, so you aren't losing much here.

Westgate Mall is essentially flipping things around. They'll open two hours earlier than their normal 11 am opening but shut the doors two hours earlier than their typical 8 pm closing.
