This winter has been crazy and it took a while to hit the Amarillo area. We had very mild temperatures, but that didn't last for the start of the new year. Yes, it always seems that January and February are traditionally our colder months. So, it is checking out this year as well.

We have already had school closings and delays in the new year. We haven't even made it halfway through the colder months. So to already see more on the way I am already dreaming about a walk in flip flops and tank tops. That doesn't seem to be what we can expect any time soon.

After our second bout of snow earlier last week, it seems that more may be on the way. Some of the early numbers shown are enough to scare anyone. Now, with the next winter weather moving in over the upcoming week, there is still some time for it to change.

I have seen numbers where it said we could get some outrageous amounts of possibly over twenty inches of snow. I sure hope those early numbers are way off. One of the posts I saw on my friend, Kristen's page:

The National Weather Service has also addressed the crazy numbers we were seeing and also wanted to warn us that it is too early to know for sure. As we have seen, even as we approach closer the numbers are always changing.

It could come next weekend or start in the middle of the week. It all seems up in the air right now—no pun intended. We will be watching and preparing. Please leave the toilet paper alone. Don't go out and panic buy. Let's wait and see what the local weather people say. You know the ones who live here and know the area.

The latest from the National Weather Service:

Let's keep an eye on the forecast and be ready for whatever Maybe we will just get rain. We have time to wait for a more accurate forecast.
