Our Hopes Have Been Answered As This Amarillo Restaurant Reopens

It was earlier this summer when we learned the awful fate of Malcolm's here in Amarillo. After thirty-eight years they were closing. It hit a lot of us hard. We took the last few days that we could and visited.

We kept them really busy. That was a true testament of how much Malcolm's was loved here in Amarillo. When June ended so did our trips to Malcolm's. Every time I drive by I remember the memories my family had there. So it was sad to see.

Letting my daughter know was heartbreaking because that was always on our list of places to go when she was in town. Then the rumors started. People in town saw the building being worked on. Were they coming back?

After the summer of flooding in Amarillo, a lot of places in the Paramount/Olsen area got hit hard, including Malcolm's. Many places were closed. Some had to close longer and do remodeling. Malcolm's was in that boat.

So they had some work done so that they could reopen just to close the following summer for good. Or was it? With the rumors of being worked on then there were more rumors about who may behind it. It was pretty quiet but not quiet enough.

Then this past weekend the post that rocked Amarillo. The news we have all been waiting for. The news to squash all of the rumors and make it a fact.

Malcolm's is, in fact, reopening and it's this week. The menu is going to stay the same. So the jalapeno chicken bits, which were a family favorite are back. All of the ice cream favorites are back.

This is the news we need for 2024. Malcolm's is back so let's go back and revisit an Amarillo favorite.
