The weather has caused numerous closings in the area. The latest is Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park announced this afternoon that they would be closed to the public because of the current weather conditions. If you've driven at all today, you know that roads are treacherous.

My usual 15 to 20 minute commute to work has taken me around an hour yesterday and today.

The announcement does mention that officials will be looking at conditions tomorrow before reopening the park to the public. Guess that means the park is closed until further notice.

The winter weather we are experiencing is expected to continue tomorrow. The National Weather Service in Amarillo gave an update this afternoon and it looks like more winter precipitation is headed our way.

The National Weather Service, and several others, have put out several reminders today that travel is not advised. Roads are really slick and if there's any way you can stay home, you should.

It almost feels like "insult to injury." It seems like just getting out of the house and enjoying yourself has been a battle. From "the shutdown," to restrictions on what businesses can be open and just how many people can be allowed in; to now winter weather that makes getting out of the house dangerous.

At least the forecast for Halloween is a little warmer. Hopefully whatever we get over the next couple of days melts quick enough to give us a decent afternoon on Saturday.

Be sure if you have to get out of the house to drive safe. Give yourself plenty of space and plenty of time to get where you need to be.
