[REVIEW] That Weird Place a First For Amarillo Food Trucks

We live in Texas. We love our beef. I will not argue that. I will also put this out there. Not everyone is the same. Not everyone has the same diet. Not everybody has the same taste. That is what I love about life.

My first introduction to plant-based food was this black bean burger that I would occasionally eat for lunch. I loved it. I was also a fan of the Impossible Whopper. So when I heard about a new food truck coming to Amarillo I was excited. No, I am not against eating a juicy steak but I also like a variety in my diet.

Have you heard about That Weird Place? It is the first 100% vegan/plant-based food cart. There are different reasons to cut out eating meat. Some are the whole not wanting to eat something with a face. There are others who just can't eat meat. Their bodies won't let them.

For whatever reason you are living a vegan lifestyle this place is for you. Heck, you may just want to try something different. Their menu looks very interesting. They offer wings. Wings? Without meat? Yes, that's a thing.

They also have loaded fries and barbeque. So of course I had to try them out. You can find them in the Western Business Park. They have a blue food truck. They also will be open up next week in their little shop because of the heat. Which is right behind their food truck in Suite 117. So you won't have to miss out. They will offer a lot of grab-and-go meals.

So when I got there I told sisters Sarah and Staci to pick something out for us to eat. They gave us a serving of the Dale Denton which was one of their types of loaded fries. That in itself would have probably been enough. We are talking about fries with nacho cheese, fresh greens, ranch, bakon bits, diced tomato, and raw onion mix.

They didn't stop there. They wanted us to try their wings and things. Meatless wings. Now they were not cauliflower wings as I thought. No, these were pretty hard to tell they are not meat. They are that convincing. Soy can do that. We got them with wing sauce. No other way to go. The wings were served with mac n' cheese, fries, and three hush puppies. So much great flavoring. If that wasn't enough flavor they throw in some ranch and pup sauce.

Each serving was way more than we could eat. There were two of us and we both brought home leftovers. Look at that wing. Can you tell there is no meat? Probably not. I sure wouldn't have known that.

They gave us a scoop of their barbeque as well. I was interested in how that would taste. I mean we are serious about our barbeque in Texas. It is made out of soy curls which is an all-natural alternative to meat that is heart-healthy and delicious.

I left way too full and ready for a nap even though I had to go home and mow my lawn. They did tell me that this fall they were working on having a burrito like the beloved Allsups Burrito.

I am very interested in that. I love me some Allsup's. I asked right away if they would have the taco sauce as well. They said that they would. So when you want to try something different you should give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

Just know even if you are not living a vegan lifestyle that is ok, you will definitely find something you like.
