So Many Scams So Little Time in Amarillo
I really wish we could stop writing about scams happening in Amarillo. I wish we could find a way for everyone to make an honest living and not find the need to try to scam people out of their money.
In a perfect world, I guess. It seems like there is a new scam every week. Or even an old one that they decide to revisit. This time it's Potter County warning people to not fall for these scams.

Let's not let these people make any money off of us. Force them into a new line of work. The scam again involves jury duty. There is someone pretending to be Lieutenant Langwell and making phone calls.
He is calling people and claiming that they missed jury duty. Now there is a warrant out for their arrest and to stop this it involves money. They are asking the victim to meet with this fake Lieutenant and pay him cash to make the warrant go away.
This is a scam. Potter County will never call you and have you meet to pay cash. They will never call you like this due to a warrant. This is not how it is done. The best thing to do if you ever get a phone call like this is to verify.
You can make a phone call yourself. Call Potter County and ask. You will be told this is a scam. You will be told to keep your money. Block that number that called you and move on.
If you have any questions regarding phone calls, you can call the Sheriff’s Office at 806-379-2900 to verify any information you receive about the Sheriff’s Office.
Let's be safe out there.
