Some Potter County Inmates Could Be Sent To Lubbock
The Potter County Detention Center has been running near capacity and steps have been made to alleviate the problem.
Recently the Potter County Detention center had 598 inmates for its 599 beds. It’s difficult on the prisoners and difficult for the staff. A new agreement has been signed with Lubbock to address the issue.
Now, when Potter County is at capacity, certain male inmates will be sent to Lubbock to free up space. It will cost taxpayers $65 per day per inmate plus the associated costs and time involved in transporting inmates to and from Lubbock.
