I think that Amarillo gets a little set in its ways. We like to get new businesses. We like to see new places to eat. We really do. We also get hurt when we see a long-time business shut its doors.

Now I know after a long run it is the American dream to get to retire. Heck, I hope one day I get to. So you can't really blame a business for wanting to call it quits. Especially when they can do it on their own terms.

That is what is going on at Stubblefieds - 3900 Canyon Drive. They are next to that zebra-striped business that was there years ago. Just FYI the stripes are gone now. You know what I am talking about.

Stubblefield's Flooring and Rugs have been a place to stop and get some great rugs and flooring for your home. They have been there for nearly sixty years. They have been a staple to our community right along I27.

They are about to be there no longer. They have set a closing date of March 14th. That is a little over a month from now. They will be saying goodbye to their customers. They will also be selling everything and anything they can at a good price.

The folks at Stubblefield's knows that Amarillo has some great people:

And finally, we would like to thank all of our loyal and awesome customers that we've had over the years. You all have made this such an amazing journey, and we could never truly show you how much it has meant to our family. Thank you for an awesome 60 years, Amarillo!

Thank you Stubblefield's for nearly 60 years of business. Thank you for being there for all of our carpet needs.

Amarillo's Cursed Buildings – Historic Route 66, 2813 SW 6th

There are some places around town that just can't seem to stay in business for very long. This is one of them.

The address of the cursed building is 2813 SW 6th Street. This building was originally built in 1930. This place was originally a service station. I'm sure in the heydays of Rt. 66, this place was the place to stop to get your car serviced. However, in the last 15 years, this building has seen many different faces.

Amarillo Buildings That Seem To Be Cursed: 2601 6th Avenue

It's time for another edition of Amarillo's Cursed Buildings.  The building we are focusing on is the building located on a concrete island at 2601 6th Avenue. It's that little island that's squeezed in where Georgia meets 6th.
