Sitting  in our weekly Monday meeting and waiting to go over story writing assignments. This one story jumped out at me. Basically, all it said was: "a home in Wolflin". My editor hinted that there would be a tour of the home. That was it. Hmmmm....

Okay fiiiiine, I'll take it. Whatever this mystery house was, I was locked in. The time arrived and I was told to head over to the house and talk with the owners before my editor showed up to take photos. I sent my editor a text asking what exactly was the reason we were checking out this house?

I wasn't sure what I was going to find out. I was totally in the dark. Her reply (which didn't help me out much) was that it was a maximalist home. OK....I wasn't really sure what that meant. Obviously, I knew what maximalist meant. I knew what minimalist was too.

So there was a time when people would de-clutter and believe in the less is more approach. This is still a thing. Oh, but some people think that is just a boring way to live. And now that I've stepped into this beautiful Wolflin home and seen what it has to offer....I tend to agree.

This house is decorated to the max. Hence the name. It was not like everything was just thrown together hodgepodge without thought. No, everything had its place and it was really cool. The design is well thought out and something I wish I would be good at doing.

I was talking with Meagan and her husband Micah about their home. This is a little cool what a small world Amarillo is backstory. I had not taken a tour of the home yet. I kept thinking from the moment I saw the home that it looked familiar. Then I brushed it off as it being a home near my house that I drove by many times.

I was hearing them talk about the bedroom and how cool and different it was. I saw it out of the corner of my eye and had to go look. As I walked up I was asking questions about the room. Does it have a door that leads to the backyard? I know I have been here before.

I, in fact, had. I went back and looked and in 2015 when I was selling my home in Wolflin and downsizing this was one of the homes on my shortlist to buy. The bedroom and kitchen were my main draw. What a small world.

There are groups out there if you want to learn to decorate in this fashion.  Meagan says that most of their decor was bought when they moved to Amarillo two years ago. They frequently check out the Facebook Marketplace pages. They scope out the antique shops here, and even thrift shops like Goodwill.

Some pieces they designed through Etsy. I loved the locker in the living room. She bought it and refinished it. Gave it a great distressed wood look. Again, I wish I had this kind of talent.
