A report came out earlier today stating that Xcel Energy customers might be seeing an increase in their bills. The change might take place in 2020.

According to the article, the change would increase your bill by about $14.99 if you are a residential customer using 1,000 kw-hours a month. They also state in the article that even with the change in rates, Xcel Energy's rates are below the national average.

Even if we're below the national average, no one likes to hear their bill is going up.

The company has asked for a rate review, so we still may not see any increase at all. According to the article, the increase is because of the "large investment" the company has made in regards to transmission lines and substations to make the grid "more reliable."
