I think the one thing we can all agree on this year is how bad 2020 has been. I mean we have now lived through a pandemic. There have been way too many things cancelled. We are now in November and things still haven't changed.

In fact the numbers keep going up in Amarillo. We are not sure how the rest of the year is going to look. We do know that we need to find a way to let our frustrations out on what a year this has been.

Luckily 24 Hours in the Canyon has found just the way to help us all out. It's pretty cool. Oh wait. Poor choice of words. I would have to say it is pretty hot. So the deal is that 24 Hours in the Canyon, a Cancer Survivorship Center, is teaming up with the Amarillo Fire Department. They are bringing us A Farewell to 2020 - Up in Smoke.

It is a way to be as dramatic about the end of the year as we can possibly be. I mean who doesn't want to set this year on fire? Now is your chance. Just a $5 donation is what it takes. That $5 will buy you an unused bib that would have been used had 24 Hours in the Canyon been able to have their event this summer. It was one of the many things that was cancelled.

Now that bib can be purchased and burned just like what we want to do to 2020. Even better when you buy a bib you can submit a statement and tell 2020 what you really think of it.

There were 3000 bibs that were not used so this will be one heck of a bonfire. Of course the Amarillo Fire Department had things cancelled too so your $5 will help both organizations. Oh and the Amarillo Fire Department will be safely monitoring the burn.

Of course in the age of social distancing and virtual celebrations of course the event will be livestreamed on both the 24 Hours in the Canyon and Amarillo Fire Department Facebook pages.

This fun event will happen on New Years Eve at 6pm. So purchase your unused bib, write your message to 2020 and watch the livestream. You will feel much better about what 2021 has in store for us all.
