Amarillo, TX. Tornado Takes Out Side Of Toot’n Totum

With the recent weather here in Amarillo, TX., we've seen everything. Torrential rains, captivating lightning, small to large sized hail, damaging winds, and yes, even funnel clouds.

Now, the narrative is that there wasn't a true touch down of a tornado in the city, but after seeing what happened over around Ross & 27th, I have to call bollocks on that. There is no way something didn't touch down in that area.

So what makes me think that? Well, just take a look at this.

I'd hate to break it to ya, but there isn't a storm strong enough to do that kind of damage. There had to be SOME sort of tornado that touched down right? Well, after much deliberation it seems, they have indeed confirmed that it was a tornado, even after everyone was saying there was no touch down.

It was classified as an EF0 tornado, the smallest one possible. It was a short and sweet tornado, but it did plenty of damage. The tornado was 10 yards in width, so think a first down in football. It had winds up to 85 MPH, which is faster than you can drive on the interstate, and was on the ground for about 1/4 of a mile.

So definitely one of those that hit the ground, and popped back up as fast as it touched. However, the spot that it touched down definitely did some damage in its mere seconds in action. As you can see, the brick siding of the Toot'n Totum was ripped off, an A/C unit was torn off a roof and thrown into the street, and some damage was done at the Stars Drive-In.

It'll take a touch of time to rebuild, but it could've been a lot worse. Just don't tell me anymore that it wasn't a tornado.
