I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Amarillo weather is bipolar, in every sense of the word.

So here we are on April 13, 2022. It's been knocking down temps in the mid-80s range for the last five to six days. Today, we find ourselves in the mid-60s, which isn't terrible but it's going to lead to something that is rather wild.

Overnight tonight, temps are going to dive down into the 20's. So what does that mean? You guessed it, it's a hard freeze.

With how the temps have been, it wouldn't surprise me if you had gotten out this weekend and started work on that garden or have some plants that are beginning to sprout. I mean, how were you supposed to know there was a hard freeze right around the corner?

If you've done any of those things, I'd recommend heading out there and getting them covered up so you don't lose all that hard work. If you can bring plants inside, please do so.

That's not the wildest thing though. After temps slide into the 20s, we'll have warmer temps rebound and find ourselves back into the mid-70s for a high on Thursday.

The problem here is that we'll go from a hard freeze to immediate fire weather. Why is that? Well, the mini cold front has to blow out right? Therefore, we can expect winds to gust up to 35 MPH tomorrow as the cold is replaced by the warm.

So there ya have it, Amarillo weather at its finest.
