Is Amarillo Going to See Another Major Closed Restaurant Reopen?

Rumors love to swirl around Amarillo. Did you hear about this? What do you believe? I remember when the idea of Buc-ee's coming to Amarillo was just a rumor. Nobody thought that was ever going to happen. Look at us now.

Some rumors are way true and we get to rejoice. If the latest rumor is true I think a lot of Amarillo is going to be happy. This rumor is not about a big store or restaurant making its debut in Amarillo. They don't always have to be like that to make us happy.

This rumor is about a place that we loved possibly coming back. A place that closed over the summer and crushed a lot of us. I remember when I told my daughter about this restaurant closing. We went there all of the time when she was in town.

I took her there several times a year growing up. We would swing by for a meal and some ice cream when she had a special occasion. So finding out that Malcolm's was closing over the summer came as a shock.

She was bummed. She was in town just a week before and that was the one trip we ran out of time. She was only in for a day. It just wasn't possible. So she is still kicking herself.

Then I saw some talk online about Malcolm's making a comeback. There has been some work being done on the building. Their website is still active. I have heard there is a buyer but haven't found out just yet who that is. I am hoping that this is another one of those rumors in Amarillo that turns out to be true.

I really want to be able to have those jalapeno bits again. That was my favorite meal. Though they had a great patty melt. Don't get me started on their ice cream as well. I want to be able to get back to taking my granddaughter there as well. Another generation in my family growing up loving Malcom's. Let's hope this rumor is true.
