Lose Power In Amarillo Yesterday? You Can Blame Alcohol.
Well, I've been waiting ALL WEEK for the bizarre story to come out of Amarillo, and we've finally gotten it.
Normally, a power outage isn't something that brings out the weirdness in a city, but #onlyinamarillo does it actually do that.
There was a pickup truck cruising, ok not cruising, flying around downtown Amarillo yesterday and the end result was not crossing a finish line.
Alejandro Lazano was allegedly driving WAY too fast downtown, paying no mind to anything or anyone around him. Either he was in a massive hurry to get somewhere or just wanted to see how fast his pickup could go.
Well, he got more than he bargained for because he got to find out how far it can fly as well.
Witnesses said Lazano was driving so fast that he ramped a divider and slammed right into a utility pole just south of 11th and Pierce. That collision caused a transformer to blow and it also started a grass fire on top of it all.
So what really caused Lazano to be driving so fast in the middle of the afternoon? Alcohol. He was arrested and charged with DWI after his high-flying incident.
Amazingly, Lazano appeared to come away with nothing but a bump on his nose. One person was taken to the hospital, but we do not know the extent of their injuries.
I'll never understand a DWI in the middle of the day, maybe it's because I'm working during the day and I struggle to fathom drinking that early in the day. Regardless, it just goes to show you that anything is possible at any time.
