Imagine knowing that Texas was the location where your son was last seen. Imagine it being two years since you last heard from him. That is what parents, Heidi and Terry Van Roon are dealing with right now.

Their son, Karl, was last seen in Texas at a small farm. His plans were to hitchhike to New Mexico. Did he make it there? Did he ever leave Texas? Those are questions his parents would love to have answered.

Before Karl was in Texas he spent many years in the Yukon. He called the communities of Dawson City and Keno City home for several years. So his parents recently visited the area in hopes that anyone has heard from Karl.

There have been no traces of Karl since June of 2022. It's been a long couple of years for the family. They haven't given up hope that he will just make his way home at some point. Since he is a hitchhiker there is no proof that he is actually missing.

He may be but he also may not be. That is what makes this case so heartbreaking for his family. They just want to know that Karl is doing OK. They want to know that they really don't need to be looking for him. He is not really lost. That is what his family just wants to know.

The police do not have him listed as a missing person because of his preferred way to travel is hitchhiking. He may just be out on an extended trip. There is no way to know without actually hearing from Karl.

The only way to bring attention is for the parents to start an online campaign. That is how the YouTube video came about. Since the police and FBI haven't been able to have him listed as missing there is no active investigation.

Going online is the best route for his family at the moment. If anyone has any information on Karl that would be the best news for the family. They just want to know he is living his best life.
