Recent Event at Amarillo Church Shows Harsh Truths of the World
There once was a time when we didn't have to worry so much in Amarillo. Do you remember those days? It seems like life was simpler in the "good ol' days." Maybe they weren't.
There was probably always crime. I get that. We just may not have heard about it so much unless we watched the news or picked up a newspaper. With social media, everything is there in front of us every moment of the day. So I guess it seems like there is more bad news out there.
Maybe not because there is more. It is just more readily available. It makes us wonder what is happening in the world. One recent story I came across on social media made me wonder.
It happened Wednesday evening at St. Mary's Catholic Church - 1200 S Washington. Of course, being in the Catholic World all my life I know the importance of the different sacraments.
There are seven. I have completed four of them in my life: Baptism, Reconciliation (confession), Communion, and Confirmation. Being Catholic you know the importance of going to Confession and being forgiven of your sins. It is not a fun process going through anything you may have done wrong. Once you go through your penance you feel so great leaving church.
There is one guy who does not feel great after what happened during a recent Confession at St. Mary's Church. St. Mary's has their Confession times set for Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Earlier this week an incident happened during the Wednesday night scheduled time for Reconciliation.
It's sad to think that this church has to install cameras. It's scary to think that this is the way the world is going. We can't feel safe anywhere. I know this is not the first time something has happened at a church but it hits close too close to home.
I hate this for our world.
