What is it about a person that makes them think it is ok to poison or shoot a domesticated animal?   What's going on with that?

First, we heard that someone was going around poisoning dogs in people's backyards in the Western Plateau area.  Now it's someone going around Lawrence Lake shooting cats?

I know that you will find a ton of strays in that area.  But, does it warrant taking a pellet gun and shooting them?  No, it doesn't.

I worked in a building near that area for a short period, yes cats were around the building all the time, and I might have made friends with a cat or two.  Heck, we even had skunks and ducks come up to the building as well.

Did I once think, "hmmm, let's shoot them with a BB gun"?  No, No I didn't.  I just can't imagine the mindset of a person that thinks that is OK.  It's not, it is cruel.  Shooting cats to be shooting cats, or shooting cats just because they are a nuisance, either way, it is not cool.  In fact, it is illegal.

Amarillo Police are now involved with what is going on around the lake.  It was proven by vet X-rays that several of the cats in the area were indeed shot with a pellet gun.  The APD is asking for any information on who might be responsible for hurting these cats.   If you do have information call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400 or submit an anonymous tip at amapolice.org.  If your tip leads to an arrest you could earn a reward of $4,000.

It's 2021 and folks are making up for staying indoors and following the law all throughout 2020. This isn't always a good thing, though. There have been quite a few odd, wacky, and outright grotesque crimes committed in the Texas Panhandle this year so far.

From Friona to Lubbock, there's plenty of bad behavior on display throughout the 806 in 2021.

Take a look at what these hellions have gotten themselves into:
