Teaching Kids To Drive? Here’s The Best Spots In Amarillo.

Ah yes, it's the most stressful thing for any parent to go through. No, it's not sending your kids off to school.

It's the wonderful joys of teaching them how to drive. There is nothing more stressful as a parent. I remember watching my parents in the car with me and their reactions. It's natural to freak out a bit. I'm still a few years away from having to teach my firstborn how to get behind the wheel, and I'm terrified to do it.

As I was trolling around on Reddit, I saw someone asking about WHERE they can take their kids in a safe, controlled environment to teach them how to drive. The original poster had already mentioned they had navigated John Stiff Park and Thompson ark successfully. Great places to teach them the basics of everything because it's not overly busy in either of those places.

However, you have to think about the things neither of those places has. There's really no traffic, so there aren't a lot of ways to prepare for that. There are no stoplights around either, and in Amarillo, that's a big thing they have to learn how to deal with. Too many people ripping through red lights in the city, so you can't teach them how to wait even after the light turns green.

So where are some good places where kids can start learning how to navigate all those things? Here's a brilliant idea. There is so little traffic on a Sunday morning, but enough to make you think. Great chance to get out, utilize stoplights and have to pay attention to a few cars around you.

Another wonderful idea. Navigating potholes and how they can jerk the car a bit is a great idea. We all know Amarillo has enough potholes around town that if you don't know how to absorb them and keep the car straight, you could find yourself in trouble.

At some point, they're going to have to learn how to utilize the highway. Getting up to speed as you enter the highway and how to merge into traffic is a big thing, especially here.

This might be one of the best places to do it. If you combine doing this on a Sunday, you have very little traffic, a TON of stoplights, and it teaches the importance of paying attention to the one-way streets we have here. No need for a head-on collision.
