Amarillo Our New Buc-ee’s Can Cause This Headache for Travelers

We finally found out that Buc-ee's in Amarillo is supposed to open up in February of 2025. It will be here before we know it. I will finally be able to make my first trip to Buc-ee's. I know how dare I not ever have been before.

Anytime I have gone to Dallas I had a specific task and wanted to get to my daughter's house as soon as possible. On the way home I just wanted to get home. I never felt the need to want to go a little out of my way and stop.

Since it will be right up the road from me I know I will give it a try. I will have to see what all of the fuss is about. I do sense there will be some issues though. I had to recently pick up a friend from the airport.

Not a big deal but it was on the same day as the groundbreaking for the new Buc-ee's in Amarillo. So I was worried about how that might affect my trip. Will it? So that led me to really think about this.

Will Having a Buc-ee's at Airport Boulevard Make Trips to the Airport a Nightmare?

I mean it might. The traffic. The congestion. I know the first month or so it will be crazy. It will have to cause some issues. I just don't think we will really see it slow down. The reasons it's good to have a Buc-ee's in Amarillo are also the reasons it could be a headache.

Yes, we have a lot of traffic just because it is on I40. That is going to keep Buc-ee's hopping. All the people driving through will inevitably stop. So that is great. Except that means it will be busy a lot.

One Change That Needs to Happen at Airport Boulevard

I hope this is something that has already been thought about. We need a light at the intersections. No, not the flashing lights we have now. We need a good old-fashioned red, yellow, and green light. I know that will take some getting used to but I think it is really needed. It could be a nightmare without it.

Hopefully, that change will happen before the opening date. Give us some time to get used to slowing down and stopping.

Yes, having Buc-ee's here in Amarillo is going to be great for our city. It just might make the trips to the airport not as much fun. That is the one thing I love about traveling in Amarillo. Our airport is great to get to. We can make it in record time, unlike big cities. This Buc-ee's may slow it down a bit.
