People around Amarillo tend to be on their toes when it comes to April Fool's jokes spreading around social media. We kind of have to be. We love to have fun on the day. So we do expect to see pranks go around.

There were posts about getting an HEB, which we are not. There was a post floating around about a Trader Joe's coming to town, but it is not happening. So we tend to question everything.

Later in the day, a photo of a sign at an Amarillo restaurant was posted in a restaurant group. It hinted at drama happening at a local restaurant. I drove by to see what was going on. The sign was gone but the doors were locked and the lights were off. They were definitely closed.

What Happened to Pizzeria Nomad on Georgia Street?

The sign that was up earlier stated that they were closed due to a lack of respect and leadership. It seemed to be posted by an overworked employee.

When I drove by a couple of hours after that photo was posted the sign was down but "Now Hiring" signs were on both locked doors. So I was hoping this meant this was a temporary closing until they rehired people.

I know on the social media post people were questioning if this was an April Fool's joke but I can't see a restaurant being part of a joke that closes their doors for any amount of time and losing money. It couldn't be that.

Hopefully, this is a temporary problem. Or at least it could have been until a bit later when Pizzeria Nomad took to social media and said the words nobody wanted to see or hear:

This was not a temporary closing. They did encourage everyone to support their downtown location but the end of Pizzeria Nomad on Georgia Street is gone.
