Suspense Builds: Tenant Set to Take Over Old Ruby’s Location

It's been a long six years without Ruby Tequila's in our lives. I feel that Amarillo got duped and didn't get the closure that we needed with that one. It was there and just like that it was gone. Taking with them two successful locations.

The building on Georgia got a transformation and opened back up as Georgia Street Taphouse. We got a new restaurant in that location. Oh, but the Soncy building just sat there empty. It has been since 2017. That is six long years. There has been times that the building was over-run with weeds and long grass.

They really needed a new tenant. It is a pretty good location. Just think of all the things that could move in. I mean a new restaurant would be great. Right?

Well heads up. There has been some work being done on that location. That could only mean one thing. New owners? That is what it is looking like. Oh, and before you get your hopes up. I know what you are wondering?

What cool new restaurant is moving into that location? I mean that makes sense. That is what has been in there before. It is set up and ready to go as another new restaurant. Right? That makes sense.

It really does. It looks like, though, that is not what is going to be happening here. No new food. A new business anyway. That location needs something.

So Who is Moving Into the Old Ruby Tequila's on Soncy?

According to Potter-Randall Appraisal District's website Great Mind Enterprises, Inc bought the property back in April. There has been work done on the property. Vehicles in the parking lot.

One of those vehicles seemed to belong to a business that is already in Amarillo. One person saw the Head Hunters Smoke Shop people there a few days ago with their trailer and they were walking around the property.

If you are not familiar with Head Hunters, they are a smoke shop. There are two locations right now. One is on Western Street.

The other one is on Amarillo Boulevard.

I reached out to them to see what their plans are. Will this be a third location? Or will they be closing one of these? When will they be opening? These are the answers that Amarillo wants to know.

Their response:

You did hear correctly, we are opening up a new shop in the old Ruby Tequila's building and hopefully it should be about a month, possibly an extra week or two, until we are fully ready to open doors!

So it is not a rumor, it is fact. They also wanted us to know that they are growing and expanding not only in Amarillo but all over Texas!
