When was the last time you have been fishing? Grabbing that pole and heading out for a relaxing afternoon either here in Amarillo or jumping on the road and traveling a bit. Fishing is something I loved to do growing up. I haven't taken the time to do so since my daughter was little.

I do miss those days of heading out to Medi Park with a pole and some bait. If your kiddo has never been fishing but would love to learn Amarillo Parks and Recreation has just the thing. They are hosting their Hooked on Fishing free camp. The first session is this weekend.

Don't worry if you can't make it because there will be more chances. Your kiddos can learn the basics of fishing. They will learn how to bait, cast, and hook. So don't worry if they really don't know anything about fishing. They will.

They will learn by doing. They will have a pole and will actually fish for catfish and trout out at either Medi Park or Martin Road. Those are the sites of the free camps. You do have to be registered. You can do that HERE.

So if your child would love to learn the basics of fishing now is the time. There will be one camp this weekend, June 8th from 8 am until 10:30 am. If that date is not good for you the next ones will be at the same time but will also be held July 20th, and September 7th, and the final one is September 21st.
